Powers of Attorney
A Power of Attorney (POA) is one of the most critical legal documents a service member can have before deployment. It allows a trusted person to manage your affairs while you're away, from bank accounts to vehicle transactions to housing decisions.
Free preparation available: Your installation's Legal Assistance Office can prepare a POA at no cost, typically in a single appointment. Bring a valid military ID and know what specific powers you want to grant. Some banks and institutions have their own POA forms. Check with them beforehand.
