Reserve Officers' Training Corps
Commission as an officer while completing your college degree. Available at 1,700+ universities nationwide across all branches.

Officer Candidate School / Officer Training School
Commission after completing your bachelor's degree through an intensive officer training program. The fastest path for college graduates.

- OTS: 9.5 weeks (Air Force/Space Force)

Enlisted Soldiers & Sailors Going to College to Commission
Programs that allow active-duty enlisted members to earn a degree and commission as officers while keeping their military pay and benefits.

Commissioned officers lead from day one. Your first assignment as a 2nd Lieutenant (O-1) or Ensign (O-1) puts you in charge of a platoon, division, or division-equivalent element of 16-40 personnel. You are responsible for their training, readiness, welfare, and performance.
Officer careers are structured around promotion gates: O-1 to O-2 is nearly automatic, but O-3 (Captain) through O-6 (Colonel) require competitive selection boards. The tools that matter most: performance evaluations (OERs/FITREPs), school selection (Command and General Staff College, War College), joint assignments, and command billets.
