Periodic Health Assessment (PHA)
The Periodic Health Assessment is the annual comprehensive medical readiness screening required for all service members. It evaluates individual medical readiness, identifies health risks, and is the foundation for maintaining your deployable status. Governed by DoDI 6200.06.
Don't wait: An overdue PHA will turn your Individual Medical Readiness (IMR) status red, making you non-deployable. If your PHA is approaching expiration, take action immediately — scheduling and lab work can take weeks.
Governing Regulation
The PHA is governed by DoDI 6200.06 (Periodic Health Assessment Program) and service-specific implementing guidance. Requirements may vary slightly by branch. The PHA is the responsibility of each individual service member, while unit commanding officers are responsible for ensuring their members complete it on time.
